Privacy Policy

1. Data We Collect

Retro Notebook - Diary, Notes does not require an account. By default, all notes, titles, categories, tags, checklists, photos, voice recordings, and preferences you enter are stored only in your device's local database and are not sent to the developer's servers.

Starting with version 4.0.0, the app offers two optional features that involve data leaving your device: signing in with Google and cloud sync (a Premium feature). These only apply if you choose to use them.

2. Optional Account & Cloud Sync

You can use the entire core app without any account. If you choose to sign in with your Google account, Firebase Authentication (a Google service) handles the sign-in; the app receives your name, email address, profile picture, and a unique user ID, and uses them only to identify your account in the app.

If you are a Premium user and enable cloud sync, your notes and their attachments (photos, voice notes) are uploaded to the app's Firebase project on Google Cloud (Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage) so they can be synchronized across your devices. This data:

• is transmitted encrypted (TLS) and stored under your account — security rules restrict access to your own user ID only;
• is used exclusively to provide the synchronization service — it is never sold, analyzed for advertising, or shared with anyone;
• can be permanently deleted at any time by deleting your account (see Section 8).

3. Premium Purchases (Google Play Billing)

The app offers optional Premium plans (monthly and yearly subscriptions, and a one-time lifetime purchase). All payments are processed entirely by Google Play. The developer never receives your payment card details or billing address — only a confirmation of your entitlement (whether Premium is active). Subscriptions can be managed and cancelled anytime in Google Play. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google processes payment data.

4. Advertising (Google AdMob)

To support free use of the app, the free version displays ads served by Google AdMob (banner/native ads in the app's screens, plus occasional interstitial and app-open ads). AdMob may collect information such as your Advertising ID, device information, and usage data in order to serve and personalize ads. This data is processed directly by Google, under Google's own privacy policy — not by us:

You can limit or opt out of personalized ads from your device's ad settings at any time. Premium users see no ads, and the app makes no ad requests at all while Premium is active.

5. Analytics

The app uses Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (such as which screens are opened and which features are used). This helps the developer understand how the app is used and improve it. Analytics data does not include the content of your notes. See Firebase Privacy documentation for details.

6. Permissions

Photos are attached via Android's system photo picker, which does not require gallery-wide storage access — the app only receives the specific images you pick. The app does not request sensitive permissions such as location, contacts, or SMS. The note-sharing feature uses Android's built-in "share" menu; data is only sent to the app you choose (SMS, email, WhatsApp, etc.) with your explicit action.

7. Data Security

Your app password and per-note lock passwords are stored encrypted on your device and are never shared with the developer or any third party. Notes that you do not sync never leave your device. Synced data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and protected by per-user security rules in Firebase. Uninstalling the app deletes all locally stored note data; cloud data (if any) remains until you delete your account.

8. Data Retention & Account Deletion

You can delete your account and all cloud data at any time, directly in the app: Settings → Cloud Sync → Delete Account. This permanently removes:

• all notes and attachments stored in the cloud for your account, and
• your sign-in identity (Firebase account).

Notes stored locally on your device are not touched by account deletion — you remain in control of them. If you cannot access the app, you can also request account deletion by emailing otabakoglu@gmail.com from the Google account's email address; requests are honored within 30 days. 9. Children's Privacy

Retro Notebook - Diary, Notes does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13. The app is intended for a general audience.

10. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app's release notes or on its Google Play listing. The version shown here always reflects the current policy.
