Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Retro Notebook - Diary, Notes mobile application ("the App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. The Service

The App is a note-taking and diary application. Core features — writing notes, checklists, tags, images, voice notes, local backup, password/fingerprint app lock — are free to use. From version 4.3.0 the App also includes journal mode: a page for each day on a calendar, a daily writing prompt, an optional mood marker, a writing streak and the "On This Day" look back. Journal mode is free on your device; only the Premium extras listed in Section 5 are paid. From version 5.0.0 the App also includes an optional AI writing assistant (see Section 6). Some features are offered as part of an optional paid subscription ("Premium" and "Premium AI", see Section 5), and the free version displays advertising (see Section 8).

3. Accounts & Cloud Sync

You do not need an account to use the App's note-taking and journal features. The AI writing assistant requires an account. Creating an account (by signing in with your Google account) is optional and enables cloud synchronization of your notes and journal entries across devices, which is a Premium feature. You are responsible for maintaining the security of the Google account you sign in with. You may delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time from within the App (see Section 10).

4. Your Content

Your notes, journal entries, photos, voice recordings, and any other content you create in the App belong to you. The developer claims no ownership over your content. When you enable cloud sync, you grant the developer the limited technical right to store and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing the synchronization service. When you use the AI writing assistant, you grant the developer the limited right to send the text you choose to the AI service provider solely to generate the result you asked for (see Section 6). Your content is never sold, and it is never used for advertising or to train AI models.

You agree not to use the App to store or share content that is unlawful in your jurisdiction.

5. Premium Plans, Billing & Cancellation

Premium unlocks the following benefits: multi-device cloud sync for notes and journal entries, per-note lock, unlimited document scanning (OCR), up to 10 photos per note, PDF export, an ad-free experience, and — for journal mode — the monthly mood trends and activity correlations, the themed writing-prompt packs, the "On This Day" morning reminder, and up to three streak freezes per month. Every Premium plan also includes a monthly AI allowance for the writing assistant.

Premium AI includes everything in Premium, plus your own AI commands (instructions you write yourself and apply to a note) and a considerably larger monthly AI allowance.

• All purchases are processed by Google Play Billing. The developer never receives or stores your payment details.
• Prices are shown in the App and on Google Play before purchase and may vary by country.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel anytime via Google Play → Payments & subscriptions; you keep Premium until the period ends.
• Refunds are handled according to Google Play's refund policies.
• Upgrading from Premium to Premium AI is handled by Google Play, which accounts for the time remaining on your current plan.
• If a subscription lapses, Premium features are disabled but your notes are never deleted.

6. AI Writing Assistant

The AI writing assistant can summarize, extract key points, turn text into bullet points, fix spelling, change tone, translate, continue writing and suggest titles and tags; Premium AI adds your own commands. Please note:

• AI output can be wrong. Results are generated automatically and may contain mistakes, omissions or information that is not in your note. Every result is marked as AI-generated; review it before relying on it. Nothing is written into your note until you choose to insert it, and an insertion can be undone.
• Allowance. AI use is measured against an allowance. Free accounts get a limited, one-time trial of the assistant that does not renew; Premium plans include an allowance that renews every month. The share of your allowance an action will use is shown before you run it. Unused monthly allowance does not carry over. Allowance sizes may be adjusted over time.
• Fair use. To protect the service, the App applies rate limits and may limit or suspend AI access for accounts that abuse it. The developer may temporarily disable the AI assistant, in whole or in part (for example if the provider is unavailable). Failed requests do not use your allowance.
• Acceptable use. You agree not to use the assistant to create unlawful, harmful or abusive content, or to try to make it ignore its instructions. You can report an inappropriate result from the result screen.
• Privacy. Locked notes are never sent, and you can exclude any note from AI. What is sent, where, and for how long is described in the Privacy Policy (Section 3).

7. Free-Tier Limits

To keep the free service sustainable, the free version has the following limits: up to 2 photos per note, 3 document scans (OCR) per month, and a total of 500 notes per device (the note cap applies to all users). In journal mode the free version includes the core writing prompts and the monthly mood summary; the themed prompt packs, the month-by-month trends and correlations, and streak freezes are Premium. These limits may be adjusted in future versions.

8. Advertising

The free version of the App displays ads served by Google AdMob. Purchasing any Premium plan removes all advertising. In the free version you may optionally watch a rewarded ad to summarize a note. How ads process your data is described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App except where permitted by law; interfere with or disrupt the cloud sync or AI services, or try to obtain AI allowance you are not entitled to; use the service to infringe the rights of others; or resell or redistribute the App or Premium entitlements.

10. Termination & Account Deletion

You may stop using the App at any time. Uninstalling the App deletes all locally stored data. If you created an account, you can delete it in the App (Settings → Cloud Sync → Delete Account); this permanently removes your cloud-stored notes, journal entries, attachments, and your sign-in identity. You can also request account deletion through our Account Deletion page. 11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. This includes content generated by the AI writing assistant, which is provided without any guarantee of accuracy. While the developer works to keep your data safe (local backups, cloud sync), you are responsible for maintaining your own backups of important content. The developer does not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the App.

13. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the App's release notes or on its Google Play listing. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.
